Free hunting and fishing licenses are made available and issued based on state funding. Applicant must provide a copy of current disabled veterans entitlement papers showing proof of at least 30% disability and honorable discharge.

Effective 1 July 2026, 100% service connected disabled Veterans will not pay Kansas sales tax not to exceed $24,000 in purchases per year.
Purchases of tobacco, alcohol, and motor vehicle are not included.

Veterans, spouse or eldest living survivor of a Veteran, serving from February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 and meeting the eligibility requirements may be entitled to a medallion, medal, and certificate.
Honorably Discharged Veterans who served in WWII between September 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946, and Korean War Veterans who served between June 27, 1950 and January 31, 1955, who did not graduate from High School may be eligible to obtain their diploma.
Diplomas can be awarded posthumously
Disabled Veterans or surviving spouses meeting eligibility criteria may be eligible for a Homestead refund.
State Income Tax - Military retirement not taxed in Kansas
Additional Personal Exemption for Disabled Veterans:
Effective tax year 2023 and all tax years thereafter 100% Service Connected Veterans may be eligible for an additional Kansas exemption of $2,250 for disabled Veterans.
Current military and veterans meeting the qualifications outlined in the Kansas Statute may be eligible for distinctive military license plates. Contact your local County Treasurer's Office for specific details.
Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates are free for Veterans or eligible Family members when requested through the Kansas Office of Veterans Services for VA purposes only.
